hunting unicorns.

Inspired by her time spent working in a start-up, Hunting Unicorns is a series of canvasses depicting the holy grail of tech - a 'unicorn' is a privately held startup company valued at over $1billion. The use of the term in relation to business was first made by venture capitalist Aileen Lee in 2013 and has become part of the lexicon for public and private investors, entrepreneurs and anyone working in the technology industry. These mythical titans are set against popular motifs from Bessarabian fabrics which come from geographical areas today synonymous with cheap, highly educated tech talent in Eastern Europe.
